Connect and Observe
Windsurfing is a sport that can be practiced in many different ways, including longboarding, formula windsurfing, slalom, bump & jump, waveriding, and freestyle. Also, there are often many different paths to reach similar outcomes. Therefore, while approaching windsurfing, it is important to connect with experienced windsurfers to learn from them. An important component for learning windsurfing includes observation. The map below shows many popular windsurfing launches in Western Washington. Monitoring posts on the group communication channels on both Yahoo Group and Facebook, you will be able to know when others plan to windsurf and where. This map will provide directions to these windsurfing launches where you will be able to observe, introduce yourself and connect with other windsurfers in the region.
Note: Before selecting a launch for your own adventures, it is strongly advised to connect with others (in person or on the Yahoo/Facebook communication channels) to ask if that launch is a good spot to learn and what hazards may be present.
